Oh really? HDDs are cheap? No way, in my country a SATA2 HDD of 500 Gb is about 100 euro. So... arent so cheap.
There are 2 cases... The worst case is to have physical bad sectors. This bad sectors are produced when you restart your computer manually, when you unplugged the computer or due to vibrations... In this case you must buy a new hard disk.
In the other case, the happy one... you have logical bad sectors, created sometimes by some programs, and in this case you can repair them.
The first method is to reinstall the OS and create new partitions... It takes almost half an hour and obviously you will lose all the data you have on HDD.
The second method, if you can acces you OS, is to run a checkdisk. I wont describe how to run a checkdisk under Windows or Linux because I now that you find a lot of tutorials on Internet... or maybe in a later post I teach you how... It will take some hours, depending of the size of your HDD.

NOTE: I must tell that using the second or third method you will not lose you data from your HDD so it isnt necesary to create a copy of your data.
The fourth method is to zero-fill the hard disk. Its a nasty method but it works... So if you are a linux user... this is the terminal command:sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
